During difficult times in your life, you've probably been advised to change your surroundings, travel, read, or exercise. But have you ever thought about trying meditation?
From meditation comes wisdom.
Buddha
According to Eric Rommeluère, meditation has existed for thousands of centuries. More precisely, this practice originated over 2000 years before Christ.
Meditative practice is a form of exercise that fuses the body with the mind. It is based on concentrating on movements and sensations. Moreover, this practice helps you discover yourself, calm down, and feel good.
What are the different types of meditation?
While this practice was originally "religious," associated with Buddha and thus with Buddhism, it has been secularized in the West to appeal to a broader audience.
Different meditation methods exist: here are the most widespread types in the world, from the most traditional, 'Buddhist meditation,' 'Zen meditation,' 'yoga' to the more modern such as 'mindfulness meditation,' 'transcendental meditation,' and 'Vipassana meditation.'
Zazen or Zen meditation
This practice aims to develop a Zen attitude in the individual. Indeed, the Zazen method is performed in the Lotus position, with eyes open and the upper body straight. This meditative practice broadens consciousness, develops intuition, and calms the mind. Additionally, it helps with socialization and maintains physical and mental health.
Buddhist meditation
As its name suggests, Buddhist meditation is a Buddhist practice. Its ultimate goal is to attain Nirvana, which is the liberation of the individual from their condition, suffering, and ignorance. Thus, its practice involves studying and reciting sacred texts.
Yoga
This practice is currently one of the most widespread meditative methods in the world. Yoga is largely focused on the liberation of chakras. Similarly, it is a method that consists of several postures that release psychophysical tensions.
Mindfulness Meditation
The principle of this practice is to focus solely on the present moment, forgetting past pains and future worries. Indeed, this method helps you better manage your stress by putting all your energy on the "Here and now" only.
Transcendental Meditation
This meditative method is one of the most recent. Its doctrine is that man is inherently happy. But because of society, his inner self becomes polluted with negative emotions and vibes. In this spirit, this method consists of repeating a mantra while concentrating on silence, but also on one's inner self, maintaining absolute calm.

Vipassana Meditation
Also called "Penetrating Insight," Vipassana practice aims to clarify and purify the mind. It is divided into two methods:
- The Mahasi method: It is practiced with physical or mental objects, which aid in meditation.
- The Goenka method: This method focuses much more on the body. The individual must concentrate on their body parts one by one, always following the same order, observing the sensations of each part until a state of stability and "equanimity" is reached.
